Tayside Police is dedicated to protecting the public from harm; we need information from all members of the public to enable us to achieve this to the best possible effect. If you have been the victim of a crime, or you have witnessed something, and you haven’t been able to tell us about we would encourage you to report it using one of the methods mentioned.

On 5th November 2009, Tayside Police launched its new “Remote Reporting” service which allows members of the public to report crimes to the police without having to speak to an officer directly. The service will allow a report to be made either by filling in a form on the Tayside Police website or by attending at a “Remote Reporting Site” and reporting the crime to a member of staff there.
The service is for members of the public who may feel anxious or intimidated about contacting the police directly. This may be for a variety of reasons including a fear of additional victimisation or a lack of confidence in the criminal justice system. Tayside Police recognise that people who are the victims of homophobic hate crime often face such obstacles to reporting attacks and threats. Remote Reporting enables you to report their experiences to a third party organisation, such as LGBT Youth, who will then communicate directly with the police, whilst encouraging and supporting you throughout any subsequent investigation process. You do not have to provide your contact details and in the majority of cases we can accept anonymous reports via third parties.
